This was it. Their one-night-stand was about to officially become an affair. Was Logan really ready for this? There would be no going back. It was all casual to him, but she knew from experience that when all was said and done, he would own a piece of her. Snatch it right away as he ran off to the next person.
“You're thinking something,” Woods whispered, lips brushing hers, and his hands moved up to her head, holding her close to him. “Something bad.”
She swallowed thickly.
“I want to know if you've slept with Jeremy again.”
“Seriously, Logan, as much as you talk about him when we're together, I'm beginning to think he's the one you should be fucking,” he chuckled. She shook her head.
“Okay, then, I want to know if you've slept with Lucas. Or Becca. Or the roadie with the cigarette.”
“The who?”
Woods.
“Do you want me to lie?”
Logan went still. Licked her lips and squeezed her eyes shut.
“No.”
No, I haven't slept with anybody since you,” he said, and she sighed as he started kissing down the side of her jaw. “But that doesn't mean I haven't wanted to.”
“Oh?”
“I haven't because I knew it would bother you,” Woods breathed, his tongue trailing down her neck. She let her head drop back.
“Very generous of you, sir.”
“I'm like the Santa Claus of sex.”
“Disgusting analogy, never use it again.”
Would it bother you if I did?” he asked. She opened her eyes and stared at the ceiling.
“I don't know,” she was honest. “Yes? I wish I was as sexually open and free and cool as you are, but I'm just … boring. I wouldn't stop you, though. I understand. Just … maybe not do anything in front of me, please.”
He shocked her then by bursting out laughing. He stepped back and draped his arms around her waist.
“Did you just politely ask me not to fuck around with other people in front of you?” Woods double checked. Logan felt her cheeks go up in flames.
“I'm just trying to be nice.”
“Fuck being nice,” he shook his head. “Be honest – with me, and yourself. If you want to cut my nuts off every time I hit on someone, tell me. If you want to watch while I fuck Lucas on the tour bus, definitely tell me. Why do you make everything about everyone else?”
That brought her up short.
“I … I don't,” she tried to argue, but he shook his head.
“That first night together, you were so concerned about Jeremy, about what people would think. Same thing when we talked the other day. And just now, it's like you don't give a shit about what you really want – so long as I'm comfortable. I mean, sure, it's nice of you. It's too nice. Who taught you that you shouldn't ask for the things you want?” he asked.
She sucked her bottom lip between her teeth and bit down so hard, she whimpered. Woods noticed, his eyes dropping to her mouth. Then he leaned down to kiss the sting.
“I don't know,” she breathed. “I don't know what I want. I don't want to think about you sleeping with other people. But I don't want to stop you, I don't. I … it …” she searched for the words.
“Poor lost little Logan,” he whispered, pulling at the draw string on her shorts. “But not really lost, are you? I think I get it. People are always treating you like this delicate little doll. Like you're breakable. But you're not.”
“I'm not,” she groaned, pressing her forehead to his and running her hands over his shoulders.
“People handle you like you're glass,” he kept going, and she started to shiver.
“They do,” she agreed.
“What do you want to be handled like?”
She took a deep breath.
Barbed wire.
His hands were suddenly clenching her biceps so hard, she cried out in pain. Pressed her palms against his chest as she stared up at him. His eyes blazed down at her, so full of desire and danger, finally taking on a mossy green hue.
They'd barely touched, and she was already panting.
“You better watch what you ask for. I'm not like all these other fucking guys in your life,” he growled. “I have no fucking problem with treating you as roughly as you can handle.”
“You think you can really do that?” she gasped, pushing him.

Author Bio

Crazy woman from a remote location in Alaska (where the need for a creative mind is a necessity!), I have been writing since ... forever? Yeah, that sounds about right. I have been told that I remind people of Lucille Ball - I also see shades of Jennifer Saunders, and Denis Leary. So basically, I laugh a lot, I'm clumsy a lot, and I say the F-word A LOT.

I like dogs more than I like most people, and I don't trust anyone who doesn't drink. No, I do not live in an igloo, and no, the sun does not set for six months out of the year, there's your Alaska lesson for the day. I have mermaid hair - both a curse and a blessing - and most of the time I talk so fast, even I can't understand me.

Yeah. I think that about sums me up.

Woods's voice was suddenly behind her, startling her.
“Why do you always sneak up on me?” she demanded, not able to keep the grin from her face. He beckoned her with one finger, and she swayed into him, her body moving to the music. Closed her eyes as she remembered their dance from the beach.
“Because I like to see you blush,” he replied, one arm coiling around her waist as he moved in rhythm with her.
“Mean man, that's not very nice,” she laughed, looking up at him again.
“I'm not a very nice man.”
She snorted. The tequila was rolling around in her brain, making her feel loose. Bold.
“No, you're not, are you? You're a tease.
“A tease?” his eyebrows shot up. “Explain, please.”
“You. Sneaking up on me, talking to me the way you do.”
“And how do I talk to you, hmmm?” He raised a beer bottle to his lips – she hadn't even realized he'd had one in his free hand.
“You talk to me like ...” she tried to think through the tequila fog. “Like you know me. Like you know secrets about me, and you're keeping them from me.”
“Maybe I do,” Woods challenged before necking the rest of his beer. She watched the tendons in his neck stretch and pull taut. Ridiculously wanted to place her tongue against them.
“And what secrets do you know, pray tell?” she asked, loosely wrapping her arms around his shoulders as a slow song came on.
“I know a lot of things.”
“I think you're full of shit,” she called him out. “I think you just like to tease people. Poor Jeremy.”
“I didn't once tease Jeremy,” Woods corrected her. “If you asked him, I think you would find that he was highly, and often, fulfilled.”
Fulfilled? Or just filled?” she joked before she could stop herself.
“Ooohhh, I think I'm going to like drunk-you very much,” his voice was low as he laughed at her response.
“And none of that is a secret – everyone knew you two were sleeping together. I don't think you know any secrets, Woods Donahue,” she said.
He pulled her in tight to him, pressed his mouth to her ear.
“I know some things,” he breathed. “I know you look at me when you think I'm not looking at you. I know you wonder what it was like between Jeremy and me. But mostly, you wonder what it would be like between you and me.”
Her temperature skyrocketed and she felt like she couldn't breathe. Forget blushing, she was on fire, and she couldn't decide if she wanted to run away, or cry, or strip. Possibly some combination of all three.

Just one month ago, Valentine O'Dell got her heart ripped out – yet another problem to add to her rapidly growing list. Ari may have gained a little more control in his life, but there's still one area he doesn't have a grip on – Valentine refuses to believe anything he says. Excerpt

When Valentine got to the ladies room, she all but fell through the door. A bathroom attendant jumped out of her chair, asking if she was alright.
“I'm fine,” she groaned. “Just bumped into a blonde nightmare.”
“Oh,” the attendant laughed. “One of those, huh?”
“Rich people are the worst,” Val growled, moving to lean against a sink. “You know? They just think they can talk to you however they want. Screw them.”
“I couldn't agree more.”
She was ready to go off on another tangent, but then the door burst open once again. Ari strode into the room, startling both of them.
“Sir, this is the -” the attendant started.
Leave,” he ordered her, though his eyes never left Valentine's.
The attendant looked unsure for a moment. Val rolled her eyes, but she eventually nodded her head, signaling that it was okay. The attendant nodded back, then demurely left the room.
“A little dramatic,” Val said once the door had shut.
“What the fuck do you think you're doing?” he demanded.
She belatedly realized he was angry. Ari was very, very angry. She glanced around the room.
“Well, I was gonna pee – I thought this was the best place to do it,” she tried to joke. His glare grew even more severe and he loomed over her.
“What are you doing here? At this restaurant? With that piece of shit out there?” he clarified. Her jaw dropped.
“Uh, excuse me, I think you'll find that your ex is the only piece of shit here,” she informed him. “You should've told her not to come where she isn't wanted.”
“Don't you ever tell me what to do. Now explain yourself.”
Explain myself?” Valentine laughed loudly and stepped away from the sink, not wanting him to have the power position of leaning over her. “Excuse me, but I'm not your girlfriend. I don't have to explain anything to you.”
“No, you're my property, and as such there are rules you must abide by,” he growled. “Rules we both agreed upon.”
So much of what he'd just said was messed up, but she decided to save most of it for later and tackle what exactly it was that had him so pissed off right now.
“That's why you're upset?” she asked. “Because of the guy I'm having dinner with? Because of Ralph?
“I'm upset because you're breaking the rules. I paid a lot of money for you – I won't tolerate insubordination.”
“You paid a lot of money for my time,” Val corrected him. “So screw you, Ari, I'm not breaking shit.”
“I told you in the beginning,” he started. “No other 'clients' – no picking anyone else up at your club. And I don't believe for one second you met Ralph out there on Tinder, or at the laundromat, or at school, or wherever, so he must be a client. What the fuck.
Oh my god, he's jealous. Jeez, you fuck a guy a couple times and suddenly he thinks he owns you.
Yet still, somewhere deep down in her chest, her heart began to beat faster.
“Yes, he's a client,” Val snapped. “But I didn't break any rules. I agreed to a dinner date with him before I met you, it's been set up for weeks now, I'm just fulfilling a deal. My world doesn't revolve around you, Ari.”
“It had better fucking start to.”
“Are you kidding?” she asked. “You're mad? How do you think I feel, seeing you here with friends and not being able to acknowledge you, and then having your evil ex talk to me like that, like she's still with you?”
“Deal with it – you knew what you were signing up for.”
Val was pretty sure steam was about to shoot out of her ears.
“I signed up to give you exclusive rights to my time,” she growled. “Not to be verbally abused by your bitchy ex-girlfriend, and not to be treated like some contractually obligated whore.”
“If the contract fits.”
Valentine slapped him before she could stop herself, shocking both of them.
“Don't you ever talk to me like that again!” she hissed. Ari stared down at her, his blue eyes ablaze with anger, that errant lock of hair falling across his forehead once again.
“I'll talk to you however I want. Don't ever fucking hit me again.”
She let out a frustrated shriek, then she slapped him again before pounding her hands against his chest. He struggled to grab hold of her arms, shoving her across the room and slamming her up against the wall by the door. He pinned her wrists near her head, then they glared at each other, both their chests heaving, both their hearts raging.
He's the worst.
She was suddenly kissing him. Or he was kissing her. It was impossible to tell – they were no longer two separate entities. He let go of her wrists and she immediately started clawing at the front of his blazer, trying to pull it apart. His left hand went around her throat, gently squeezing, while his right hand went to her exposed thigh, rubbing the outside of it.
“This dress,” Ari gasped against her. “Jesus, when I saw it …”
“When I put it on tonight, I thought of you,” Valentine spoke quickly, finally undoing the button and pushing her hands inside his jacket.
I want to fucking rip it off of you.
“God, yes, I want that, too,” she groaned, dragging her nails down his back, wishing her hands were against his skin.
Then his tongue was back between her lips, just as aggressive as always. He didn't just take a taste when he kissed – Ari made a whole meal of her mouth, and she loved being devoured.
