Her lips thinned. “Let’s hope you’re feeling more civilized after throwing your tantrum in the hallway. At least I know I’m not the only one being subjected to your temperamental mood swings.” Her voice carried over to me like the scent of Eve’s apple tempting Adam. There was hurt buried in the bitterness, and I yearned to soothe the pain I’d caused. I hated that I couldn’t even give her an explanation.
“It’s complicated,” I murmured sullenly.
She snorted on a choked laugh, drawing my narrowed gaze. “That’s what they all say. You don’t have to explain anything; I got the picture loud and clear.”
It was that spark in her—the innate fight that stiffened her spine—that drove me wild. She stood up for herself and those around her, calling a spade a spade without apology. Her ferocity called to an elemental part of me that wanted to coerce the lioness to show me her soft underside. To convince her to walk beside me rather than battle against me.
It was madness. A sickness in my bloodstream that I was powerless against.
I clamped my hand on the corner of her desk and started to pull her in close to me, but she slammed her feet down on the floor and glowered at me, keeping herself rooted to the spot. My lips peeled back to reveal a wicked grin before I slid my own desk next to hers. Her eyes widened a fraction as she craned her neck to maintain eye contact.
I slowly leaned in close, my lips settling close to her ear. “No matter what you think you know; I can promise that you don’t.” A whispered confession, or the closest I could get to one.
When I pulled away, confusion lined her pretty face. I slid over her iPad and began to read the class exercise, determined to ignore just how reckless I was near Val. It wasn’t the first time in my life I’d struggled with impulse control, but I’d thought I’d remedied that little problem. Where Val was concerned, I was just as self-destructive as I’d been as a kid.

Absolute Silence by Jill Ramsower

Release Date: March 10

The Lion’s Den club was better than I ever imagined and my worst nightmares, all combined.

I thought I was going to explore my darkest fantasies.

Gain a better understanding of myself and discover what I’d been missing in life.

Instead, I made a deal with the devil.

I had hoped I wouldn’t see anyone I knew at the club.

Coming face-to-face with Filip De Luca was a worst-case scenario.

Filip was effortless power seething beneath a playboy exterior.

A host of sharp edges disguised behind a cavalier grin.

Inescapably alluring and devastatingly dangerous.

He promised he wouldn’t tell my father about seeing me at the club.

I had his blessing to dip my toes into the dark waters of deviancy.

The catch?

Filip would guide me on this journey.

He would control every aspect of my exploration.

Set every boundary and command my obedience to his rules.

I thought I could live with his terms.

Gain the experience I wanted from a partner I could trust.

What a naïve fool I’d been to think our bargain could ever be so simple.

**Absolute Silence is the fifth book in The Five Families series but can be read as a standalone novel. This book is a mafia romance containing adult themes and may not be suitable for sensitive readers.

Author: Jill Ramsower
Genre: Mafia Romance
Release Date: October 21, 2020

BLURB

He was a vision of power and privilege.
Ruthless arrogance personified.
A total stranger and an irresistible challenge.

I approached him in a busy casino and felt the sting of his brutal rejection.
Then I did something incredibly brazen. Impulsive. Reckless.

I stole from him.

The object was inconsequential, only worth a handful of dollars.
I didn’t do it for the money; it was about making a statement.

I went back home thousands of miles away without giving him a second thought until I spotted those quicksilver eyes glaring at me across a busy nightclub.

It was too impossible to be a coincidence.
Yet, there he was, seething with a violent promise of retribution.

He thought he’d intimidate me.
Hunt me down and make me pay.
What he didn’t realize was I don’t scare easily.

My name is Giada Genovese, and I’m a goddamn mafia princess.

EXCERPT

Once the trap was set, I found a place to wait where I could keep an eye on Giada. When she made her way to the restroom a half hour later, I followed her and stationed myself beside the door. My fingers twitched with the need to touch her. The second she exited the restroom, I wrapped my hand over her mouth and shoved her into the storage room.
She was momentarily too shocked to struggle, fumbling to stay upright and gasping against the palm of my hand. My veins surged with adrenaline. I’d been waiting for this moment for two weeks, tracking Giada down and biding my time for the right moment to strike. Now, I had her in my arms and at my mercy.
The rush of power was intoxicating.
Exhilarating.
Addicting.
The storage room light was set to a motion detector, so harsh fluorescent light flooded the space when the door flung open, making it hard to see since my eyes had adjusted to the dim lighting of the club. The far wall was lined with shelves containing supplies, and mops in buckets along with brooms and vacuums filled the center of the cramped room. That was fine with me. All I needed was a small space away from prying eyes.
As soon as we were inside the room, I slammed the door shut and spun Giada around. Pressing her back against the wall beside the door, I instantly replaced my hand over her mouth. The club was loud, but she could easily be heard by people in the hallway if she screamed.
The second our eyes met, shock and fear melted into recognition and … indignation? Her wide eyes narrowed to harsh slits of emerald rage, and she ceased struggling, her back stiffening and muscles tensing.
Who was this fucking audacious woman?
She had stolen from me, yet she had the gall to glare at me as if I were in the wrong. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to knock her down from her high horse or worship at her majestic feet. Just like before, she stirred an inferno of conflicting emotions inside me.
I held her gaze, steady and unyielding. She was brave, I would give her that, but too much courage could be foolhardy. Sometimes it was good to know when to yield. The more she stood against me, the more my primal side wanted to conquer her.
“Somebody’s been a very naughty girl.”

5 Cartel Stars!!!  A mafia story with twists and turns...

Giada is a mafia princess, but she's the black sheep of her family and lives life how she wants too.  She just so happens to meet Primo at a Vegas casino, who happens to be a part of a Mexican cartel and is very dangerous.  During their meeting, she "steals" his lighter and he doesn't see her again.  Until he tracks her down at a NYC club, where he punishes her.  Which there starts their little game of back and forth.  He convinces her to go to Mexico with him, which is where she realizes she's now a hostage in the middle of a negotiation between his family and hers....

This was a phenomenal book!  I loved the cat and mouse game between Primo and Giada. The heat and chemistry these two have is electric.  And just when you think you know what direction this book is going, it takes an unexpected turn.

Where Loyalties Lie by Jill Ramsower

Where Loyalties Lie
Jill Ramsower
Publication date: July 15th 2020
Genres: Adult, Romance, Suspense

Tamir
My neighbors and students know me as a self-defense instructor.
Israeli ex-patriot. Former special forces. Retired soldier.
They see what I allow them to see.

Reality is far less attractive.
I still do the job that I love.
Something much uglier than teaching Krav Maga.
Only now, I work for myself instead of the government.
An independent contractor, if you will.

For those wealthy enough to hire me, my resume reads:
Israeli ex-patriot. Former special forces. Professional assassin.

Emily
There is absolutely nothing remarkable about me.
At least, that’s what my friends would say.

Waitress. Loner. Tequila connoisseur. Krav Maga student.
What they don’t know is an ugly secret forced me to abandon my past.
I left my family and everything I knew.
Hid myself away where no one would find me.
I thought I was safe. Untraceable.

I was wrong.
Now, there’s only one thing I can do if I want to stay alive.
Run.

EXCERPT:
“I’m jumping in the shower. Do I need to tie you up to make sure you’re still here when I get out?”
“No.” I threw myself onto the bed and stared up at the amoebic water stains on the ceiling.
“Just to be sure, I’ll take this with me, along with the keys.” He shook my wallet in his hand, shot me a wolfish grin and disappeared into the bathroom.
“How the…” I sat up and stared at my bags, completely dumbstruck at how he’d pilfered my wallet from me. He’d either taken it when I was asleep in the car, or he was magic. It was all a great mystery, as was everything else about the man.
If I thought he’d rendered me speechless with his little snatch and grab trick, it was nothing compared to my response when he exited the shower shirtless minutes later.
His dark brown waves clumped heavily with water that dripped in fat droplets down his taut chest, over the ridges of his sculpted six-pack, and soaked into the low-slung waistband of his joggers. I could almost feel his smooth skin against my tongue as I collected beads of water like a game of connect-the-dots.
I’d never been so thirsty in my entire life.
I was two seconds from sexually assaulting him when I noticed two patches of marred skin—one at the top of his left pectoral and the other slashing across his right side. Scars. Gnarly, painful-looking scars.
It was the reminder I needed that this man was an unknown. A predator in his own right. He claimed to be on my side, for now, but would that always be the case?
He would be the worst kind of enemy. Intelligent. Unpredictable. Deadly.

“If you get back in the driver’s seat, you’re going to pass out behind the wheel and drive us off a bridge.” He backed me toward the car, one imposing step at a time. “You didn’t get much more sleep than I did last night.” I was being difficult, mostly because I was so tired. My back pressed against the driver’s side door, and Tamir towered over me. His body pressed against mine, our faces inches apart, and his hands caging me in on either side. “You can accept my promise that I will not turn this car around, or you can watch helplessly as I throw you in the back seat, but I am not letting you kill us both by driving right now. So, what’s it going to be?” His voice purred across my skin, igniting my body in a lusty heat and making my lips swell with the need to press against his. Suddenly, I felt much more awake. I wasn’t crazy about either of my options, but I had been struggling earlier, and I didn’t want to chance running off the road. Accidentally killing myself would put a real kink in my plan to stay alive. I’d have to put some small degree of trust in Tamir and hope that he was telling me the truth. Even if he did reroute our course, it was better than being in a car accident. “Fine, you drive,” I muttered. After conceding victory, I expected Tamir to step back and release me. He didn’t. At least, not at first. Scalding coffee-colored eyes dropped to where I could feel my pulse thudding at the base of my neck, then he lowered his face to the side of mine until his lips ghosted across the skin behind my ear. I immediately turned my face away—to escape him or to allow him access, I wasn’t sure. He took in a deep breath, inhaling my very essence with a lungful of air, then released it on a shaky exhale of practiced restraint. Wariness battled with longing. Frustration collided with curiosity, each of us lost in our own silent, internal war until restraint won out. Mine had been an epic struggle to simply keep from arching against him while molten need pooled deep in my belly. The source of his struggle was a mystery to me, but its presence was evident in the cataclysmic heat of his stare. Then, it was over. He lifted himself off me and stepped back. I could feel his penetrating stare devouring me, but I was too overwhelmed to meet his eyes. I stumbled around to the passenger side and slipped inside. It took a solid ten minutes for my heart to stop throwing a rave in my chest.
